COVID-19: Jaflong Response

OPEN FOR TAKEAWAY AND DELIVERY DURING LOCKDOWN

05.11.20

Our takeaway will remain open and we will continue to deliver to your door throughout the lockdown.

Following the Prime Minister's announcement on Saturday, from today (Thursday 5th November), our takeaway will stay open for collection and delivery. Orders can be placed via phone and our website, JustEat and UberEats. We will continue to offer 10% off on all online orders placed via our website. In line with Government guidelines, we will be closing our dine-in area.

Safety Matters

The safety of our team and customers remains our number one priority and so, we will be adapting how we operate:

  • The number of customers entering our shop at one time will be restricted.

  • We will continue to sanitise high-contact surfaces such as doors, counters and payment machines.

  • We request that customers remain outside until your order is ready to collect. Once it is ready, a staff member will notify you.

  • It is mandatory to wear a face mask when you enter our takeaway and masks need to be worn for the entire duration you are inside.

  • Please continue to sanitise your hands upon entry and scan our track and trace QR code.

  • We request that customers maintain 2 metres distance, in respect of social distancing guidelines.

  • We have enhanced hygiene procedures in place and teams are washing their hands regularly.

  • We will continue to accept contactless and cash payments.

  • If you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, please do not enter our takeaway and seek medical advice from a public health professional.

  • We will continue to provide safe, contact-free deliveries. If you are self-isolating, please inform us immediately.

These are hard times for everyone, so remember to look after one another and be kind to yourself. We look forward to seeing you soon and we hope that we can bring some festive cheer this Christmas, whilst keeping everyone safe.

IMPORTANT CHANGES TO OUR SERVICE

03.10.20

After a few uncertain months of trade, we experienced an extremely busy night yesterday; our kitchen was completely inundated with orders and unfortunately, we had to stop taking orders at 8.30pm.

In order to ease the pressure on our kitchen and contend with stock supplies, we will be implementing some changes to our service. As of today, we will be operating from a reduced menu on Friday's and Saturday's. We will continue to have our full menu available Sunday - Thursday.

We are aware that our menu is extensive and caters for a wide range of preferences and dietary needs. Whilst we will endeavour to fulfil special requests, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you wish to order a dish not available on our online menus, please do call us on 0208 332 1339 and we can see if it can be prepared for you.

Our delivery times can range from 30-45 minutes, 45-60 minutes and 60-75 minutes depending on the day and time; as the evening progresses, our estimated delivery times can change. We recommend that you call us before placing your order, so we can advise you of our current delivery time. As always, we will try our best to deliver to you as soon as possible and keep you informed along the way.

In light of the new government restrictions, you will not be able to place orders for collection after 10pm. You can still order for delivery after 10pm and we will continue to deliver contact-free. We would like to remind all of our customers that it is now mandatory to wear a face covering if you wish to enter our shop.

Our opening hours have been reduced since the past few months. We continue to remain open from 5pm, however it's of paramount importance to us that our staff can continue to safely return home at the end of their shifts. In order to ensure this, from Sunday - Thursday, we will close our takeaway early by 10.30pm, at the latest. If you would like to place an order for delivery after 10pm, we recommend that you call us in the first instance and we can inform you what time we will close.

We would like to apologise for the slow service yesterday evening. Our kitchen was filled with orders, well before the start of service. As Key Workers, we completely empathise with your disappointment when deliveries are delayed. Our team has been working flat-out to ensure everyone's orders were delivered and we apologise for the delay in delivering your meal. We hope that you can appreciate that we are trying our best to continue serving you delicious meals whilst we contend with unprecedented circumstances.

The heavy influx of orders can impact our service in a number of ways but we hope that with these new changes, we will be able to continue taking orders throughout the night and maintain an efficient service.

Finally, we would like to thank you for your understanding and your patience. Our staff members and delivery drivers are particularly grateful for the kindness and empathy you have shown towards us and this means so much to us, during these tough times.

Take care and stay safe.

Syed

CHANGES TO OUR OPENING HOURS FOR WALK-IN & COLLECTION

22.09.20

In line with the latest government public health measures, from Thursday 24th September onwards, our takeaway will close at 10pm for walk-in and collection orders.

Our opening hours however remain the same. We are open daily from 5-11pm, and after the 10pm cut-off, you can continue to order meals for delivery.

We thank you for your understanding.

Stay safe and take care.

Syed and the Jaflong team.

FACE MASKS

24.07.20

As per the Prime Minister's latest measures to curb the spread of COVID-19, it is now compulsory to wear a face mask in shops.

Please help us to stay safe by wearing a face mask if you enter our premises. If you are coming to pick up a collection order, please remain outside our shop and we will bring your order to you when it is ready.

We thank you for your co-operation.

Stay safe and take care.

CHANGES TO OUR SERVICE

04.04.20

Since re-opening, we have been warmly welcomed back, and we would like to thank you very much! It was an extremely busy night yesterday; our kitchen was completely inundated with orders and unfortunately, we had to stop taking orders at 8.30pm.

In order to ease the pressure on our kitchen and contend with stock supplies, we will be implementing some changes to our service. As of today, we will be operating from a reduced menu. During this period, we won't be taking any orders with off-menu items or special requests. We will also temporarily stop taking pre-orders as this creates a backlog in our kitchen, before we've even opened for service. This will be reviewed regularly and we hope that very soon we will be able to return to our full menu.

We are aware that our menu is extensive and caters for a wide range of preferences and dietary needs including vegetarian, vegan, coeliac and so forth. Should you wish to order a dish not available on our online menus, please do call us on 0208 332 1339 and we can see if it can be prepared for you.

Our opening hours have been reduced in recent weeks. We continue to remain open from 5pm, however it's of paramount importance to us that our staff can continue to safely return home at the end of their shifts. In order to ensure this, during the week we may close our takeaway early before 11pm. If you are hoping to place an order between 9-11pm, we recommend that you call us in the first instance and we can inform you what time we will close.

Our delivery times can range from 30-45 minutes, 45-60 minutes and 60-75 minutes depending on the day and time; as the evening progresses, our estimated delivery times can change. We recommend that you call us before placing your order, so we can advise you of our current delivery time. As always, we will try our best to deliver to you as soon as possible.

We would like to apologise for the slow service yesterday evening. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 situation, our kitchen has been flooded with orders, well before opening. As Key Workers, we completely empathise with your disappointment when deliveries are delayed. Being one of the only local food delivery services, we are under immense and unprecedented pressure. Our team has been working flat-out to ensure everyone's orders were delivered and we apologise for the delay in delivering your meal. Whilst our delivery time is 45-60mins in 'usual' circumstances, we hope that you can appreciate that these are strange and difficult times, where we are all trying our absolute best.

We would also like to express our deepest apologies to everyone who wasn't able to order last night. The heavy influx of orders can impact our service in a number of ways but we hope that with these new changes, we will be able to continue taking orders throughout the night and maintain an efficient service.

Finally, we would like to thank you SO much for your understanding and your patience. Our staff members and delivery drivers are particularly grateful for the kindness and empathy you have shown towards us and this means so much to us, during these tough times.

Collections

Please place all collection orders by phone or online. Once your order is ready, we will notify you and a staff member will bring your order out to you. Please wait outside until your order is ready.

Delivery

Please opt for contactless delivery to help keep you and our delivery drivers safe. Please notify us if you are vulnerable or in self-isolation.

Payment

If you are paying by card, please pre-pay for your meal over the phone or online. If paying by cash, please place the money in an envelope (or similar) to minimise contact.

Social Distancing

In order to continue to provide you with a safe service, it is imperative that we all work together to follow government guidelines and minimise contact.

Thank you.

UPDATE: RE-OPENING

02.04.20

Since closing just 3 days ago, we have been overwhelmed with kind messages of support and well wishes, for which we are extremely thankful for. In addition to this, we have been inundated with calls, emails and messages from members of our local community who rely on us for food.

Our decision to re-open has not been made lightly and has been in response to a number of factors brought to our attention from our customers:

  • A number of our customers are key workers, who work very exhausting/ late evening shifts

  • Several of our customers have mobility issues, and so find it much easier to order a meal

  • Many of our customers are working from home whilst also taking care of children and so, ordering a meal in can be extremely helpful

  • A significant number of our customers are vulnerable/ social distancing/ in isolation and so, ordering a meal in is the only option and can be the only communication they have

  • There are a limited number of places which offer late evening delivery, and this is decreasing day-by-day

  • There are a limited number of places which cater for dietary needs including vegan, vegetarian as well as food allergies and intolerances

We truly empathise with the messages we have received over the past few days. As a family, we understand all too well the importance of community and togetherness. Over the years, we have built strong ties with our community and we have celebrated births, graduations, anniversaries and engagements with you and we’ve also seen you through times of sadness and grief.

We have worked extremely hard over the last few days to think about if and how we can continue to serve our community whilst adhering to the recommended safety guidelines from the UK government, PHE and the WHO. We understand the increased need for food delivery services however, we strongly request that you help us to keep you, our staff and the public safe.

UPDATE: TEMPORARY CLOSURE

30.03.20

This is a very hard message to write and it’s been an incredibly difficult decision to make. It is with a heavy heart that we have made the decision to close our takeaway today. As a family-run business, we have built Jaflong from scratch just over ten years ago and are all hands on deck every single day of the year.

We have tried to stay open for as long as possible to support our local community, and your support has been paramount to this. We've taken a number of measures to follow the government's guidelines, however with many people continuing to come through our doors and our team still travelling in to work, we feel that we are doing more harm than good and we need to be as socially responsible as we can.

The safety of our team, their families and the public is our top priority. We can’t guarantee how long we will be closed for but what we do know is that this is only temporary and we will be back better and stronger than ever before. We will continue to keep everyone updated on social media and respond to your questions as best as we can.

Each member of staff, from the owner himself 🧔🏽 to the fantastic Chefs who cook your meal 👨🏽‍🍳, your friendly drivers who deliver to your door 🏡🚗💨 and the occasionally surprising voices who take your Friday night orders 🧕🏽☎️, we all genuinely thrive off interacting with you. We couldn't be more thankful for your fantastic reviews, comments and your endless support, without which we wouldn’t be here today ♥️.

These are very unusual and difficult times. Please continue to look after yourselves and each other, spend time with your family if you can, video call your friends and loved ones and remember, to celebrate the small wins each day. Most of all, please be kind and be safe.

We are and will be, forever grateful for your support. We will be back!

Jaflong team 💛

COVID-19 RESPONSE

We have been closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation both globally and within the UK and Ireland. The safety and well-being of our people and our customers is our number one priority and we wanted to reach out to update you on some of the steps we have taken, in line with the latest advice from Government.

HEALTH, SAFETY AND HYGIENE
The cleanliness of our takeaway is of paramount importance. At Jaflong, we have comprehensive health, safety and hygiene processes in place which are firmly embedded across our business. However, in light of the evolving situation we have introduced a number of additional processes around cleaning and sanitisation that provide supplementary robust safeguards, including increased frequency of cleaning high-traffic surfaces such as doors, door handles, card machines, bar, chairs, telephones, floors, delivery bags and boxes. Our team is regularly washing and sanitising hands and frequently changing gloves during service.

We have temporarily removed our option to dine in. During this period, we will only be offering takeaway and delivery and we encourage you to opt for deliveries rather than collection. If you are collecting your meal, we would advise you to stay outside the premise until it is time to pick up your order. When inside, please stay at least 2 metres away from staff and other members of the public.

OUR JAFLONG TEAM
We have been advising our employees on the situation, and necessary precautions to take, and are providing them with all the latest information and actions to abide by if they are impacted by the virus. Any Jaflong team member who is diagnosed with COVID-19 or is individually asked to self-isolate by a public health authority will receive full support and assistance.

SHARING ADVICE TO STAY HEALTHY
We would like to remind all our customers to follow guidance from public health authorities when visiting Jaflong. We would urge all customers to follow the advice on frequently washing hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water or use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available. Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. Use a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands). Put tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands for 20 seconds afterwards.

We encourage customers to place orders online or by telephone. We encourage customers to pay by card online or over the phone rather than cash. If you are paying in store, we encourage you to pay by contactless 'tap'. If you are paying by cash, we encourage you to place the money in an envelope (or similar) to minimise contact.

Customers can request a contactless delivery if paying by card. When ordering online on our website, you can leave a specific request for the driver, for example, to ring the doorbell and leave the food outside the front door upon delivery.

DELIVERIES AND ADVICE IF YOU ARE SELF-ISOLATING
We want to deliver to you as safely as possible, so please let us know if you are in self-isolation by leaving a message in the special comments box when you order online, or calling us directly. Following the Government's advice on preventing the spread of COVID-19, if you're self-isolating, your driver won't be able to come into your home. But to help make things easier, our driver will ensure your food is packed in a clean carrier bag and placed by your door or a suitable place of your choice.

STAYING IN TOUCH AND UP-TO-DATE
We will continue to review our approach and keep you updated as the situation progresses, however you should also keep up to date with the latest advice on the Public Health England and NHS websites. If you have any queries, please contact us at jaflongtandoori@outlook.com

Thank you.
